DEZINER OPTICAL
PROJECT DETAILS
We were approached to design a Deziner Optical store, a Mellins subsidiary in Somerset West.
Although a Deziner Optical, the same ergonomic design of the Mellins, which we, ROODT* Architects, have applied extensively through all the Mellins Stores we’ve designed, came as a strong requirement from the client, of course without a replication of the Mellins Stores.
Our intervention, can be alluded to an inversion of the Mellins Store colour palette. The palette employed at the Deziner Optical is a combination of a Walnut laminated wood veneer, stainless steel finishes, MDF surfacing and glass. Printed perforated film is used extensively as the backdrop. The use of mirrors, placed angularly, enhance the dimensions of the space optically and also spread light. The furniture was also selected to tie in with the interior design.
The en vogue colour scheme (black was the trending colour at the time of the design) was also purposefully chosen to be in touch with trends, worldwide.
